NEWVersion 1.5: your buddy now follows the task you’re actually on

The to-do list that tells on you.

Write down the one thing you’ll do today. A little buddy sits on your screen and watches you do it. Wander off and it starts a countdown. Hit zero and your mates find out.

Free to start · macOS 12 or later, Windows 10 or later · version 1.5 · Which one do I need?

How it keeps you honest

Say it. Do it. Or hear about it.

No blockers, no timers you can ignore. A small buddy that knows the plan, notices when you’ve wandered, and has your mates on speed dial.

Say what you’re doing

One thing for today, on a sticky note. Break it into steps if you like. Your crew can see it, which is sort of the point.

The buddy, gone orange, glaring at a phone with its countdown ring nearly complete

Drift, and it notices

Ten minutes in the wrong tab and the buddy goes orange and starts counting. Tap it to plead your case. Let it hit zero and it tells the crew.

Your day, written up

An honest recap at the end of the day and a standup ready to post. On Sundays, a report card your mates will see. Best make it a good one.

Mates first

Accountability works better when someone’s watching. Nicely.

Start a crew with a few mates, or your team. Everyone posts what they’re on, you see who actually did it, and the leaderboard keeps score. There’s a Room for working together on a call, and a snitch for anyone who drifts. No screens, no spying. Just honesty with people you’d hate to let down.

Five buddies in different colours sat in a row on a desk, four cheering and one asleep
The snitch

Ignore it, and it tells your mates.

A countdown, a nudge, then a post in your crew: who drifted, for how long, and what they were meant to be doing. Every roast and every win becomes a card you can share, so your friends can cheer you on, or take the mick.

The buddy, red with rage, shouting into a lime megaphone
How it works

Three steps. Then peer pressure does the rest.

Write down the one thing

When you sit down, say what today is for. Add steps, an estimate, or let Accountabuddie break it into bits.

Work. It watches the plan, not you.

Free Accountabuddie only looks at which app and site is in front. Pro reads a few words from the window to tell a tutorial from a rabbit hole.

Drift, and your mates hear about it

Countdown, a word from the buddy, then a post to the crew. Pull it back in time and it says well done. Grudgingly.

Meet the buddy

Pick a personality. It’ll pick up on your excuses.

Calm, dry, drill sergeant or unhinged. It learns how you write and talks back the same way. It also remembers that this is the third time this week. Swearing is optional and off until you turn it on.

Free for you and your mates. Pro when you want it to really see.

Fair questions

Fair questions.

Is it watching my screen?

Free Accountabuddie only notes the name of the app and website in front of you, and that never leaves your Mac. Pro reads a few words from the front window to judge whether it matches your task, and keeps nothing afterwards. Passwords, banks, health and private windows are never read. Pictures are off unless you turn them on, and video calls are never looked at. The full list is on the privacy page.

What do my friends see?

Your score, your one thing (if you choose to share it), your standups, and a snitch if your countdown hits zero. Never your screen, never which apps you used.

Is it good for ADHD?

That’s who it was built for: one thing a day, a buddy that notices before you do, and friends for the accountability. It’s not a medical tool, just a very persistent mate.

Can I turn off the swearing?

Yes, Settings → Buddy. It’s off until you turn it on, and it learns how you write and talks back the same way.

Windows? iPhone?

Windows is here: use the Windows download button above. iPhone is on the way.
